Chapter 4, Waking Up Summary

Four months go by. Charlie makes an announcement one morning that he is sending Bella to live with her mother. Bella does not know what she did wrong. Charlie explains that she did nothing wrong, which is exactly what is wrong. He complains that she gets up, goes to school, goes to work, does chores and never strays out of line. Her father says she never does anything except mope and accuses her of waiting for "him." Bella insists she is not waiting for anyone, but secretly, the idea of leaving the place where Edward was last is too much to bear. She promises Charlie she will go out with one of her friends, just to prove that nothing is wrong.
