Summary

In Chapter 7, Tiller says he is no longer afraid of his own death (100). He thinks everyone lives in a state of imbalance.

After Courtney's family left and Tiller cleaned up, Tiller hoped he and Val would have sex. She closed herself in their room.

Tiller and Veej watched a movie. Tiller felt emotionally confused before falling asleep. He woke up in the middle of the night, and went outside to lie naked in the grass. Val found him. They talked. She stretched out on top of him. Tiller thought about their version of safety, which really was a figment (106).

The next day, a coldness formed between Tiller and Val. Eager to get them out of their slump, Veej suggested they go bowling. Val stayed home. When they returned, she was missing.
