Summary

In Chapter 17, Cat finds Alex in the kitchen with Biddy and her father, who have revealed her fake sabbatical story to him. Cat takes Alex on a tour of the grounds, and reveals that she told Demeter she was getting fired. Alex is angry, but agrees to stay and wait for Demeter there. He tells Cat that he championed the community center and they go for a drive to a meadow and flirt. Cat takes off her shirt and they hook up.

In Chapter 18, Cat and Alex go back to the house and at around the bonfire. Demeter’s teenage daughter gets drunk, and Cat gives the kids a lecture about respecting their mother.
