Summary

Chapter 7, titled “Twin Terror KinderSCARton,” begins with Deeze leaving the house with Karen to take her to Sandy’s birthday party. On the way to the bus, they encounter many of the colorful characters who live in their neighborhood. This includes Ms. Mae, an aging former Hollywood starlet, and her caretaker Ms. Marla, Black Panther member and writer Jeffrey ‘The Brain’ Alvarez, and Monkeywoman (a woman who sits outside her building with a monkey on her shoulder). Outside Sandy’s house Deeze sees a friend from high school (who is actually a prostitute) and tells Karen to go into the party without him. Sandy’s house has no heat and is almost completely empty. She claims her aunt and uncle are out buying her a cake, but Karen is doubtful there is a party at all. Sandy explains she did not move here...
