Summary

In “The Final Battle,” Todd narrates that when he wakes, the ship is in the air and the Mayor is trying to shoot missiles at the Spackle. The missiles and bombs he drops do not detonate. In Viola’s narration, Bradley admits that Simone disconnected the warheads. Regardless, the sense that the Sky is angry because he believes the humans betrayed him. He does not believe Bradley and Viola even when they tell him that the Mayor is acting independently. The Return narrates that the Mayor changes the fuel mix in the ship and causes burning fuel to spill out over the Spackle and people below. In Viola’s narration, she describes how she and those she is with are surrounded by fire in the riverbed.
