Tap Dancing on God's Piano Summary

Phoebe writes at the beginning of this chapter that although she was often disobedient and rebellious, her treatment of her mother after the incident in the kitchen was bad even for her. At every opportunity, whenever she was in hearing distance from her mother Phoebe would say Mick's name. Finally, Phoebe's mother asks Phoebe what she is doing. At this Phoebe runs to her room. She realizes she doesn't like who her family has become, or who she has become. At this point, Phoebe calls Zoe. They really talk for the first time since Mick had died.

The interment of Mick's ashes takes less than thirty minutes. Phoebe calls Zoe this same day at midnight. When Phoebe tells Zoe she is not all right, Zoe comes over to her house. They sit on the couch...
