Chapters 22-28 Summary

Cassia is in her Language and Literacy class when a message comes across the port calling her to leave with an Official who will escort her out soon. She is told that she has committed an Infraction. This rarely happens, especially in public. Cassia wonders which Infraction she has committed. The Official is the same one who talked with her after the Match card showed Ky's image. She tells Cassia that Cassia did a wonderful job on her sorting test, and that she has the highest score of the year. She could get almost any job she wanted. Unfortunately the Official might have to tell the work centers that Cassia is unfit for sorting-related work due to her choices in personal relationships.

As the Official warns her about her relationships, Cassia mentions that Ky is just a friend that she hikes...
