Coming of Age

Yasmin’s story is a coming-of-age story because she transforms from a girl afraid to break the rules to one who realizes that life is not simple and cannot be controlled by a rule book. Yasmin prides herself on being a dutiful daughter and obeying her parents' wishes. As Yasmin grows, she learns that breaking the rules is something that everyone has to do once in a while to be true to themselves. Yasmin also matures into a woman who realizes that she has put unrealistic expectations on other people by expecting them to be as perfect as she imagined she could be.
