Summary

A few months after going out to dinner with Merit, Jane asks her for help with an upcoming project. Jane explains that the clients, Allie and Regina, are looking to complete renovations on a historic Painted Lady house, then tells Merit that she will be overseeing the project while Jane and Edward vacation for Jane’s birthday. The initial discussions about the project are turbulent because Allie and Regina want to remove an historic fireplace, but Merit manages to diffuse these tension by developing a creative architectural plan. On the cusp of submitting the plans to the city, however, Allie and Regina back out of this arrangement and insist on removing the historic fireplace.
