Summary

In the two months Thomas was gone, Alice had started over in Chapter 26. She’d taken charge of running the sanctuary with the help of Gideon. After she completed her day of financial work, Alice would pick up Jenna and join Gideon with whatever manual labor he was doing. It was at this point the two fell in love. One day they were talking about Lilly, one of the elephants on the sanctuary when Gideon noticed Jenna had wandered up to where Maura was standing.
