Summary

In Chapter 5, Alex got up and left Lydia in bed. She thought he was leaving, but when she went downstairs, she found him sitting in the living room with his head in his hands. He told her he had to go see Christine and she asked him to please come back to her. He went home but Christine had locked the deadbolt and would not answer the door. Inside, Christine felt humiliated and furious. She collected all of Lydia's clothing and other possessions lying around the house and put them in a garbage bag. She heard Alex come and go.
