Summary

In “Harvey’s Dream,” Janet Stevens is disturbed because her husband, Harvey Stevens, suddenly looks so old. She notes she has just gotten to the point in her life that she believes they will not have to deal with any more surprises, like his affair, when Harvey tells her he had a nightmare so bad that it scared him awake.

Harvey tells her that he does not want to tell her what the dream was about because it was so bad. Janet tells him she has heard that if a person tells what their dream was about, it will not come true. Janet regrets her decision right away, but Harvey starts talking anyway. He tells her he dreamed he came downstairs on a Saturday morning, but she was not yet awake.
