Summary

During the plane ride back to Portland in Chapter 21, Juliet imagines what will happen when she reunites with Harlowe and Maxine. She imagines Harlowe apologizing and them processing it together with Maxine. Instead, Harlowe meets her at the airport and pretends like nothing has happened. When they get to the house, Juliet realizes that Maxine has moved out, with Harlowe saying she left the day after the reading. Harlowe opens up about the break up, and cries to Juliet about how she thinks she will be ostracized from the POC workshops. At no point does Harlowe ask Juliet about her perspective on what happened at the reading, and Juliet does not offer it up.
