Chapter 31-36, Conner to Vanessa Summary

In Chapter 31, back in his room, Conner wonders why Emily confessed everything about their love affair. Because Conner is sixteen, Emily doesn't go to jail, but her teaching career is over. He finds it underhanded that the same sex for him doesn't even earn him a suspension, while it ends Emily's career. Conner also recalls how most of his childhood was overseen by Leona, the nanny.
