Kiguunda

Kiguunda is a farm laborer who lives in a small, one-room house with his wife Wangeci and daughter Gathoni. The wealthy elite describe him as a hard worker whom they can trust. He is most proud of the fact that he owns one-and-a-half acres of land and constantly looks at the title-deed to that land, which becomes a source of interest for Kioi and his wealthy business partners. Kiguunda remembers his life before Kenyan independence fondly and frequently discusses those memories as well as his memories of the state of emergency and independence movement.
