Summary

In "I Love You but I've Chosen Darkness," the morning before leaving for Reno, Claire looked at pictures of Jesse on Myspace. "He died in a car crash" shortly after he and Claire broke up (154). Claire and Jesse were high school friends. Eventually they started dating. They spent several years together. They "lived together up in Reno working retail and fast food and taking night classes" (158). Jesse stopped drinking and proposed to Claire. Claire accepted by reneged shortly thereafter (158). Jesse started "doing hard drugs" (158). He and Claire "broke up a few dozen times" (158). They stayed somewhat close. He was good at a lot of things and Claire loved him. She found out about his death through her sister. Claire resented the girl he was dating when he died.
