Summary

Chapter 4 opens with Nyamayaro traveling to the United Nations in London to apply for the job that she has been dreaming of since she was a small girl rescued by a United Nations aid worker. Unfortunately, she encounters almost immediate obstacles to her plan. The woman at the front desk tells her repeatedly that they are not hiring--especially not without a university degree. Then, Nyamayaro realizes that she is not even at the home of the United Nations but rather the offices of the United Nations Association, a related offshoot agency working to promote the United Nations. She is crushed to learn that the United Nations headquarters are actually in Geneva and New York City. She feels defeated.
