Summary

In Chapter 7, Diana tells Tilla about Sports Day. Dane is the organizer. The event includes all sorts of games for young people in the area. Tilla brings up the subject of Hessan, hoping to make Diana realize she is not trying to come between them. Diana dismisses the possibility and says Tilla should not be “obsessed with yourself” (116). Diana says there is an upcoming youth concert and Hessan has already asked her to go with him. Tilla considers staying home, but Andre convinces her to go. Tilla tries to talk about Junior striking Andre, but Andre acts as if it is unimportant. When Tilla and Andre arrive at the school where the event is to take place, Dane asks Tilla to fill some water bottles from a pipe that is trickling water. She encounters Hessan. Tilla immediately asks about his betrothal to Diana...
