Chapters 7-8 Summary

In chapter 7, Beatrice orders Roy to get on to the handlebars of his own bike and she takes him to a large salvage yard. Once there, Beatrice takes Roy into the back of an ice cream truck on cinder blocks. Beatrice wants to know what is in the shoe box Roy has. Roy tells her that he has brought the running boy shoes because he is concerned he might step on something. Beatrice takes the shoes and promises to get them to the running boy, confessing that he is her brother. Roy is told that the running boy is Beatrice's stepbrother and that he has run away from military school. Beatrice and her brother are afraid that if anyone finds out where he is, he will be sent to juvenile hall, so they have been hiding him out.
