Summary

Chapter 1 “Dead Man’s Party” opens with Sam at Plumpy’s where he is a fry cook. He works with his friends Ramon, who he has known since the sixth grade, and Frank and Brooke. Sam’s full name is Samhain Corvus LaCroix and was named by his mother after a pagan holiday to spite his father. The manager of the restaurant is Kevin, who is referred to as the “Lesser of Two Kevins” because he shares a name with Sam’s biological father. His parents are divorced.
