Point of View

The graphic novel is presented from a limited perspective, but that perspective changes depending on the action taking place. The majority of the novels in this series focus on Laureline and Valerian, and the reader sees things from their perspective most of the time. That is true only to a point in this novel. Valerian and the other three heroes travel to Filene. They split up and each takes his own route to their final destinations. The perspective follows each for a few panels, so that the reader sees what is happening with each, but only for short periods of time in their quest.

An important part of the perspective is seen in the change between Valerian and Laureline near that end of the novel. The focus is on Valerian when he meets the Great Mother, but then reverts to Laureline while Valerian apparently has...
