Chapter 4 Summary

The Imperial team with Thrawn, Palleon, and Thrawn's assistant land on Wayland with the intention of visiting the Emperor's storehouse. They destroy a building as a show of strength, in order to persuade the inhabitants to bring them to the Guardian of the Mountain. A man steps forward and agrees to take them to the mountain. When they get there, he shows them a crypt. He infers that the Guardian is dead and that everyone who comes seeking the Guardian is also dead, as they are killed upon arrival. The man, Joruus C'Baoth, turns out to be the Guardian of the Mountain. He turns to shoot lightening bolts out of his fingertips at the Imperial team, but he stops short. The ysalamiri that Thrawn brought with him to the planet prevents C'Baoth from attacking them further.
