Beyah Grim

Beyah Grim is the first-person narrator and central character. She is the daughter of Janean and Brian Grim. Beyah’s parents were never married. She was the result of a one-night stand.

Beyah is a dynamic character in the novel because she changes her opinions about rich people, herself, and her future as a result of her experience in Texas.

Beyah is attracted to Samson because she senses he is damaged like she is. As Beyah opens up to Samson, she realizes that she is worthy of love in spite of the things she has had to do to stay alive, like taking money from Dakota for sexual acts.
