Point of View

Hang the Moon is written from the main character Sallie Kincaid’s first person point of view. By writing the novel from the protagonist’s first person perspective, the author is centralizing Sallie’s experiences on the page. In turn, the author’s overarching thematic explorations are all grounded within Sallie’s perception of the narrative world. Sallie’s encounters with loneliness and loss, her experiences of grief and longing therefore dictate the ways in which the author represents such dynamics throughout the narrative.
