Summary

In Chapter 28, Bobby visits Susan and Lois. They have dinner and Bobby says he forgot the Susan's mail at home. Susan still feels like Bobby needs her more than she needs him. While Bobby is out the next day, Susan writes about her relationship with a man named Saul. Saul gets bored by Susan because she refuses to let the joy in (249). Saul tells her she reminds him of his daughter who killed herself. After Saul, Susan starts seeing her student, Gary. Gary quickly becomes irrational and violent, raping Susan and accusing her of using people. Both Saul and Gary make Susan wonder if she is capable of love at all.
