Summary

Chapter 1 is titled “Fuck Me Sideways with a Fork.” Cinniuint, known as Cin, is having a familiar nightmare. Though she is aware that she is in her bed with her cat purring at her side, she cannot break free of the nightmare. She hears the sound of a gun and feels the silver-laced bullets enter her body. She lands at the edge of the river. Her three brothers, Richard, Kieran, and Shipley briefly discuss that Cin should have known her place. Though she is not dead, her brothers do not waste more bullets because the silver will do its work over time. Cin had always been an outcast, the result of an indiscretion by her mother, Juniper. She is especially hurt by Shipley's betrayal. Cin wakes in a panic. The sweat on her sheets could be explained away by the muggy night, but...
