Section 7, Pages 231 - 271 Summary

Joe Cicero succumbs to lung cancer and Ramon is the last one at his graveside. Though officially running the unit for some time, now he feels complete control. He instructs secretary Katrina to take Cicero's belongings to the archives. He has not seen Nicholas in two months. He opens a package of information from Red Rose (Bella) and lays it beside information gleaned from another agent, Dieter Reinhardt to check the integrity of the files. Red Rose officially earns a Class III rating. Katrina witnesses the destruction of the documents and Ramon goes upstairs to report. General Yuri Borodin, head of the fourth directorate and Aleksei Yudenich ask Ramon to defend his thesis. Ramon tells them they should make South Africa a political issue in the domestic United States. He explains his reasoning and they agree with him. Later...
