Summary

In Chapter 3, Neil felt sick after consuming the drink. Anita coached him through the feeling. She instructed him to "focus on something" he wanted "to achieve" (75). Neil focused on being known and understood, and the "world stilled" (75).

Anita told Neil he had drunk "a shit-ton of gold" (75). Then Anjali appeared.

When Anjali was young, she begged Vivek to tell her about their mother's elixirs. He explained that she took gold from ambitious people, and melted it into the drinks. He was, therefore, drinking other "people's dreams and plans" (79).

Anjali and Anita explained everything to Neil, making him promise to keep their secret. Anjali stole the gold from homes during her catering jobs. The items had to be taken, and not purchased. Neil said he wanted in, promising to use the gold effectively (81). Anita agreed to share her gold with Neil (84).
