Summary

Ginny has been acting especially “good” the past month to avoid being unadopted (78). It is Monday, October 18th, on the night of the Harvest Festival, and Ginny has readied herself to be kidnapped by Gloria. Instead of Gloria, though, Ginny is surprised to see Crystal with a C. Ginny ditches Mrs. Wake and runs across the school to find Crystal with a C waiting for her in the parking lot. Ginny is relieved that it is she who is kidnapping her instead of Gloria.

Crystal with a C drives away, and Ginny “smile[s] big” before asking, “Did you find my Baby Doll?” (81). Crystal with a C found Baby Doll. Ginny tries to ask if Baby Doll was alive, but she cannot get the words out of her mouth. Crystal with a C says, “What did you think, that you killed your baby...
