Summary

Ghosts: A Novel is written in frames, much like a comic book. The story begins in August with Cat and Maya and their parents getting fast food in Southern California, where they currently live. The family is moving north to Bahía de la Luna because the girls’ father got a new job. However, the most important reason for the move is to help with Maya’s health. Cat texts with her friends at home. She feels bad about leaving, but she understands why the family is moving. Maya has cystic fibrosis and the sea air in the new town, where is cloudy most of the year, will help with her breathing. The dad turns up the radio, and Maya starts singing along. Maya starts talking about the friends she will miss. Cat is annoyed because Maya is listing all of Cat...
