Summary

In “Transformations,” George and her classmates successfully put on the afternoon play for the younger students. Kelly played Charlotte and did a wonderful job. George went home and waited for the evening show. At five, her mother drove her back to school. Backstage, George and Kelly switched positions. George put on Charlotte’s costume and climbed up the ladder for Charlotte’s first scene. She delivered her lines perfectly, but after she got down some of her classmates were upset. Ms. Udell and Mr. Jackson, the other fourth grade teacher, came backstage. Before anyone could talk to George, Principal Maldonado arrived and sent them away, then nodded for George to continue.

George delivered Charlotte’s final speech. She noticed everyone in the audience looked sad. After, she cried with joy. She went out onto the stage and curtsied. The audience applauded her and...
