Eddard learns that over the last fourteen years, the King and his council have caused the crown to develop a debt of six million gold, most of it owed to the Lannisters. Eddard cannot believe Jon Arryn allowed this to happen, but Littlefinger claims it was Robert's extravagance. Littlefinger takes Eddard on a roundabout journey through the castle to mislead anyone who might be watching them. Eventually they arrive in a brothel Littlefinger owns, where Catelyn and Ser Rodrik wait. Catelyn tells Eddard everything that has happened.
