Summary

Section 1 of “All I Care About Is You” begins with Iris riding on her Monowheel past the Spoke on her sixteenth birthday, lamenting her deserted birthday plans. She is on her way to visit her father, who is ill, and receives his present to her in Section 2. She opens it to find a glass ball, inside which is a mermaid. Iris thinks the mermaid is ugly and resents that her father could not keep his promise to take her and her friends to the Spoke. He acknowledges the shortcoming and feels tired enough to sleep. She returns to her Monowheel to find the battery has been stolen.

In Section 3, Iris reminisces about the fun she and her friends had on her fifteenth birthday and the anticipation she had for her sixteenth. The plan was to see the stars above...
