Summary

Chapter 62 resumes the story of Irene and Gabriel. Gabriel arrives at Irene's rose nursery just before closing time. Irene has a parent-teacher conference that evening but she goes to a hotel with Gabriel instead. The next day, Irene tells her husband Paul she will be away for a few days. She then instructs an employee to take care of the nursery. Irene feels like a different person during those days. She is on the verge of leaving with Gabriel but runs away from him instead.

Chapter 63 is from Philippe's perspective and takes place in 1995 during the trial. Philippe immediately thinks Genevieve set fire to Leonine's room that night in order to get revenge.
