Summary

In Chapter 17, Imogen starts training Violet in weightlifting so she can become strong enough to stay on Tairn's back. Violet continues training to try and activate her signet magic.

In Chapter 18, Violet goes to the Archives for an errand and becomes homesick and nostalgic for her childhood spent in this library with her father. She asks for one of her favorite books that her father used to read to her called The Fables of the Barren. Violet's friend and a professional scribe, Jesinia, says she has never heard of it but tells Violet she will look for it. She never finds it and and Violet expresses her confusion that the massive library doesn't have the book that played such a big role in her childhood.
