Chapters 1 - 6 Summary

At the beginning of Chapter 1, Elena Weaver wakes at six a.m. after a late night out. She goes out for a run alone. During her run, Elena remembers making love to a man the night before. An unidentified woman is supposed to join Elena on her run but her companion never shows up.

Elena resents her father's presence in her life. While running, Elena sees two figures on the path through the thick fog and one moves away as Elena approaches. She trips over an old coat stuffed with rags. It is then that someone attacks and kills Elena Weaver.
