Summary

Chapter 3 is entitled, "Terra Incognita." A week after New Year’s, winter storms have raged through the city and Yamaye notes an increase in racial tensions and hate crimes against people of color. As she, Asase, Rumer, and Moose head to the club in Moose’s car, Yamaye wonders if Moose attracted to her or Asase. Asase suggests they bypass the Crypt and find a rave somewhere else, so they do. Asase blows marijuana smoke at Moose, causing him to briefly lose control of the car, though nobody is hurt. They continue their drive, eventually finding a party to attend. Asase and Rumer each find other men to dance with, and Yamaye dances with Moose. At dawn, the group reconvenes, and Asase explains she is getting a ride home with a man named Herbert, who Moose knows and declares...
