Trust

Trust is a major theme throughout the book and applies to several of the characters with Alex as a prime example. Alex works with cases involving horrible abuse and there are some who believe that she would become jaded because of it. However, she points out that most men aren't like this and that she trusts the average human being to be above this type of behavior. This level of trust is required for Alex to continue her dedication to her job.

Another aspect of Alex's trust is seen when she tells her boyfriend Jed details about Isabella's death and the case as it stands at that point.
