Chapter Eight through Ten Summary

In chapter seven, Alex tells Mike about the history of Martha's Vineyard as they prepare to travel to the island. Alex says her favorite part of the island is that from her home at Chilmark she is never far from water. At the airport, they meet their pilot who is a young girl. Mike fears flying and Alex spends a great deal of time reassuring him. At the landing strip on the island, they are met by Wally and a fellow officer, Ebenezer Mayhew. They also meet Trooper Lumbert with the state police who was the first on the scene of Isabella's murder. They are also introduced to Federal Bureau of Investigations Special Agent Luther Waldron who immediately gets on the bad side of Alex and Mike.
