Summary

Grace decides to return to school. When she bumps into her good friend Janie, Janie says that Gracia had not told her that she was returning to school. Grace wonders why she had not thought to tell her best friend. Grace is suspicious of her friends' kindness, especially their use of the word "good," as if trying to hide something behind the pleasantness of the word. In class, her ex-boyfriend's friend Zack is snickering behind her, and says it is too bad he could not have a baby to get out of homework. His friend Miriam teases him flirtatiously. Grace is upset and tries to stand up for herself, but Zack calls her a Baby Mama (102). During her U.S. history class, she shares the period with Max. She wants her presence to threaten and haunt him for the rest of his life...
