Summary

In Chapter 20, Charlie woke to someone slapping his face. Hamey, his cellmate, said it was time to eat and brought him water. Another prisoner Iota criticized Hamey for not letting Charlie die because Charlie made 31 whole people who had been captured. He indicated they would be done when there were 32 of them.

Charlie learned he was in Deep Maleen, a prison under the palace. Hamey explained that Charlie had been captured by Kellin, the chief of the night soldiers. They called him Lord High. The conversation was interrupted when a bell rang indicating Pursey was coming with food. Charlie was surprised they were given good pieces of steak.
