Summary

This section consists of an extended sequence of stage directions describing the actions of the first group of characters (Beverly, Dayton, Jasmine, Keisha) that are taking place during the argument among the second group of characters (Suze, Jimbo, Mack, and Bets) in the third section of Act Two. In other words, the actions of Group One are taking place at the same time as the characters in Group Two are speaking. There is the sense that the close tethering established between the two sets of characters, as established earlier in the act, is continuing.

Those actions begin in the immediate aftermath of Beverly fainting. Jasmine and Dayton argue over how to care for her best. Keisha runs off to take care of the cake. Jasmine goes to get Beverly some water. Beverly and Dayton have a quiet, loving moment. Jasmine and Keisha...
