Belief in a Cause

Belief in a cause is the dominant theme of the book and this applies mainly to David. David's real name is Jabril Khatabi. He is a Palestinian from the West Bank who's father was a lawyer and mother was a doctor. He was educated at the University of California at Berkeley. David grew up with the violence of the Middle East, and he didn't like the abuses there. He dreamed of a free and independent Palestinian state that would coexist in peace with Israel. He did not seek the destruction of Israel. This free state is what motivated him. David helped to devise the plan that Prince Omar financed.
