This metal box that Julian pulls out of the closet for James represents Carlos’ life. Carlos put this box, containing legal documents such as passports, birth certificates, his wife’s death certificate, Aimee’s engagement ring and thumb drives containing Carlos’ journal. He had put the box together to give James an idea of the sort of man Carlos had been.
