Summary

The Chapter “College” (281) begins with Kendra asking Ada if she wants to go to a college party, an opportunity which Ada automatically feels nervous and uncomfortable about but is convinced by Kendra’s positivity to attend. The novel then jumps to a new chapter in which Ada, in Twelfth Grade, draws a dancing character she has named Magic. Magic is a fictional character that Ada has spent years drawing, perfecting, and recreating so as to closer meet her image of a superhero that looks like her.

In the chapter “College” (296), Ada is at work and is forced to endure the tormented and circling conversation between the basketball players on the college team about how to get girls, acquire “fresh meat,” about who can “get it” more than others (300).
