The Glory of Tronjheim Summary

Eragon and Murtagh wake in their cell, and Eragon thinks about Murtagh's story and of the brutality of Morzan. A moment later Orik and the bald man reappear to summon Eragon to meet Ajihad, the leader of the Varden. Eragon is led to his horse and told to ride through the wide tunnel. Eragon marvels at the skill involved in mining such a tunnel because it never varies in size by an inch.

After a long procession through the tunnel, Eragon notices a glow that marks the end of his journey. The tunnel terminates in a chamber supported by jewel-encrusted marble pillars. Eragon mounts Saphira, and they enter a massive volcanic crater. Eragon estimates that it is 12 miles high, and a soft beam of light that filters down from the top.
