A Taste of Teirm Summary

Eragon and Brom arrive at the outskirts of the coastal city Teirm. It is heavily walled and guarded. The white wall is 100 feet tall and 30 feet wide. Above everything, a citadel guards against invaders. Saphira is unhappy because while Eragon and Brom are in Teirm, she will have to hide outside of the city.

Brom and Eragon arrive at the gates of Teirm, and the guards impatiently ask why they are entering the city. Eragon takes the lead in talking to the guards, and he quickly concocts a story that Brom or "Neal" is touched with brain fever and needs him to guide him through the city.

Walking through the gates of Teirm, Eragon marvels at the city's size and beauty, but he also notices people appear to be experiencing rough times. Possibly, the city is threatened...
