Chapters 49-52 Summary

In Chapter 49, Captain de Soya wakes from resurrection to find orders from the Pope that they have been rerouted to God's Grove. De Soya becomes suspicious when he notices his coffee bulb has been moved, and suspects that someone was moving around when she should have been dead. In the moments before the ship embarks for God's Grove, de Soya searches for any sign that his suspicions are correct. He finds the evidence in a series of thruster bursts that signal the release of a dropship to the planets surface, and has just enough time to change Raphael's commands before death.

In Chapter 50, Aenea tells her friends that Father Glaucus and the Chitchatuk are dead. She tells Raul that the Core is alive and dangerous and that it has sent something to kill her. Tomorrow they leave for God's Gove and...
