Summary

In “Double Nigger,” after working a construction job, Tate, Grease, Blue, and Fish, went out in search of water. On the way, they teased each other and made jokes. They came to the house they knew was owned by white people. Tate got scared when a dog came out. Because they did not think anyone “was home,” the boys drew water from the well (89). Then Grease remembered that he had defecated in the well at one time.

When the white homeowner appeared, the boys lied about what they were doing on the property. They took the water they had taken from the well and left.
