Book 2: Chapter 1-5 Summary

In book two chapter one, Tika is at the Inn of the Last Home scrubbing down the soot-covered counters. When the dragons had started attacking other places, Hederick had told the people that Solace would be safe because of his agreement with Verinaard. The dragons attacking had started without warning and the Inn had only been spared because the draconians enjoyed strong drink. Most of the people in the town had been either killed or taken as slaves to Verminaard's mines.

Book two chapter two explains that Hederick had been rewarded for his support of Verminaard by being one of the first from Solace to go to the slave mines.
